The Multimedia & Entertainment Initiative is a statewide network of Community College educators working instrategic partnerships with industry and community organizations to identify and meet California's workforceand economic development needs.

A description of the MEI, from their web page:

Consisting of an Initiative Director, six regional centers and scores of affiliated colleges throughout California.The Initiative is committed to creating environments in which students can achieve artistic excellence and develop technological expertise for careers in the communications, entertainment and interactive learning industries.

From Twitter To Facebook: Step Up To Social Media

Shasta College is proud to host a free, one-day conference that looks focusing on the fastest-growing part of the Net-Social Media on Saturday, April 24th, 2010.

This event will feature writers, publishers, bloggers, novelists and teachers who are building relationships with their audiences.

Presenters include:

Silas Lyons, Record Searchlight publisher and new media expert.

Donna Eyestone, former Apple content producer, educator, and podcasting instructor

Doni Greenberg, A News Cafe publisher, editor, and writer.

Ransom Stephens, scientist and science writer, experienced in social media networking and promotion.

Joe Quirk, author of both fiction and non-fiction books He has experience in both traditional publishing and POD - publishing on demand. Quirk will be speaking on how a writer can develop a "platform" using social media tools.
